What is a Balanced Cable?

A balanced cable (also called a symmetrical cable—both terms are correct) contains three conductors inside: two signal wires (positive and negative) and one ground. Both signal wires carry the same signal, but one is phase-inverted. When combined, this allows for effective isolation and elimination of unwanted noise and interference.

What to Look for When Choosing an XLR Cable?

Cable Thickness
The thickness of a cable is a crucial factor. It cannot be too thin, as that would make it vulnerable to mechanical damage such as stepping on it, pinching, or cutting.
On the other hand, it shouldn’t be too thick either, in order to maintain the flexibility that makes it comfortable for everyday use.
