The DMX model is a cable whose terminations are XLR male on one side and XLR female on the other. At first glance, one might say that this is an ordinary XLR cable, but nothing could be further from the truth. The DMX cable is characterised by a higher impedance and an additional foil in the braid, which protects against the influence of external electromagnetic fields - colloquially speaking, it protects against signal interference.
